My clients acquired a 1970s ranch home and were seeking a full-floor renovation to address specific functional challenges posed by the original architecture. The primary objective is to level all living areas, which currently include several sunken rooms, to create a seamless, accessible floorplan that meets the family’s changing needs. At the same time, the client wanted to remodel their very worn kitchen to modernize it and to create better storage and usability.
A key takeaway from our initial consultation was my client’s desire to host large gatherings; the home’s layout currently restricts this by isolating the kitchen from main living areas. I suggested that we also reconfigure the home’s “boxy” compartmentalized rooms to create a more open and cohesive feel. Removing 2 walls made all the difference!
