Project: Eagle, Idaho
- The mission was to tailor a standard builder spec home to the clients’ unique style, trading its cool, sterile palette for a richer, more inviting one.
Solution:
- We established a theme of natural warmth throughout the house by incorporating wood and stone in every room. Lighting and furnishings were carefully selected to provide the rustic appeal that my clients love. This design ethos is most powerfully expressed in the living area, where a remodeled fireplace serves as the central feature. Our design took the stacked natural stone all the way to the ceiling, commanding a grand view upon entry. A reclaimed wood beam, salvaged from a Northern Idaho factory, serves as the mantel, offering a stunning contrast in texture and a layer of rich authenticity.
We finished this project around Thanksgiving. I was delivering a gift to my client, like I always do at the end of a project, when she turned to me and said, “I used to hate coming home to this house, I didn’t think I would ever love it and now it’s perfect!”
